Direct Charge? What does that mean?

Under the direct charging system introduced by the Reserve Bank of Australia in March 2009, ATM owners are allowed to charge a fee directly to anyone who uses their ATMs. This fee must be disclosed upfront, providing the customer with the option of cancelling the ATM transaction without incurring the fee. This means that if you use an ATM outside of the rediATM or NAB networks, you may be charged a fee."
