1. Spend and be rewarded

Paying the bills will always be a chore, but at least you can be rewarded for doing so. For every dollar you spend, you’ll earn 1.25 reward points1. Best of all, you don’t need to go out of your way to spend and your points never expire.

Pay your groceries and utilities bills using your CUA Platinum MasterCard and your points will quickly build up. Wherever possible use your CUA Platinum MasterCard to build up your rewards points, for example to pay the school fees, pay for expeditions to the hardware store or garden centre, and of course, to purchase your new clothes and shoes.

One of the great benefits of the CUA Platinum MasterCard is it gives you the following insurances free of charge2.

  • Purchase Cover Insurance – provides cover against theft, loss or damage to covered products that have been purchased on your card.

3. Save time by using the Platinum Concierge

The Platinum Concierge is an exclusive service for Platinum cardholders, available from anywhere in the world, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The Platinum Concierge can provide you with information and assistance for both business and pleasure. This service can book a restaurant in New York, book theatre tickets in London and arrange flowers or last minute gifts for family and friends.

4. Use MasterCard applause to get event tickets before the general public

All MasterCard cardholders have free access to a members only online entertainment ticketing service, providing access to great seats for various concerts, theatre and sporting events Australia-wide.

5. Pay in full every month and save on interest charges3

To make the most of your CUA Platinum MasterCard, make sure you budget to pay off your outstanding balance in full every month to save you money in interest charges. The CUA Platinum MasterCard gives you up to 55 days interest free. This means you have a maximum of 55 days interest free on your purchases, which is the 30 days in your statement period plus 25 days after your statement date until the due date. An easier way to think of it is the card should be paid off no later than 25 days after the statement date – for example if you receive your statement on 30 June, you have until 25 July to pay it off.

To keep your CUA Platinum MasterCard free of interest charges you need to:

  • Pay your balance off in full for two consecutive months.
  • Pay the entire closing balance in full by the payment due date.

If you do not pay your balance off in full, the 55 days interest free period does not apply and you are charged interest once you make a purchase. No interest free period is available on cash advances or balance transfers.
