Why we do what we do
The world is changing and so are we, but we are committed to making a change for the better in our communities.
At CUA we care about our communities and are always seeking ways to create opportunities for our staff and our members to make positive contributions to our communities.
The purpose of our community investment program is to foster positive social change through the support of community organisations, programs and charity projects. Our staff, are passionately involved in our community activities and we encourage members to take up the challenge to join us in changing lives for the better. The efforts we make - no matter how small the contribution, will help make a difference to our communities now and for future generations.
Here are some of the ways we’re making changes for the better:
- We’re supporting the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) to raise awareness and funds by selling pink merchandise in CUA branches and have given Facebook users the opportunity to show their support for the NBCF by turning their profile pictures pink.
- We’re giving our local schools a healthy change to traditional fundraising drives as a national sponsor of the School Fun Run program.
- We’re supporting the victims of domestic violence in breaking away from the cycle of abuse through the Pets in Crisis partnership with RSPCA Queensland, RSPCA New South Wales, RSPCA Victoria and the Queensland Department of Communities’ dvconnect service.
- We provide financial products, services and consultation to the indigenous population through First Nations Foundation.
- We’re working to reduce our impact on the environment by changing the way we operate on a daily basis. CUA are strong supporters of Clean Up Australia Day.
- We help our people become change agents in their local communities, we provide them with one paid day a year to volunteer at a community group or charity. They can spend their day working on one of the projects that we currently support or other worthwhile causes of their choice.
