Child obesity is increasingly seen as a major health issue confronting Australia. Upwards of 1 in 4 children are overweight or obese putting them at greater risk of developing chronic conditions such as diabetes and heart disease. Dire predictions have been made that today’s children might be the first generation to die at an earlier age than their parents.

The School Fun Run Program was initiated nearly 20 years ago as a way of providing a healthy alternative to chocolate drives for schools around the country. Promoting fun, fitness and nutrition, over 1,200 schools participate in a fun run in each year. For many schools, this has become an annual event that represents the majority of their fundraising for the year as it is combined with the annual cross-country or other school events.

This sponsorship gives CUA a valuable opportunity to promote health, fitness and education amongst children.
