Take a shot with CUA and the Panthers
Prizes are again just a shot away for spectators at Penrith Panthers home games. Each week members of the crowd will have the chance to go in the draw to win Panthers memorabilia thanks to CUA (Credit Union Australia).
The general public also has the opportunity to win a signed Panthers jersey and a $1,000 CUA savings account by simply visiting either the CUA or Panthers website and taking a simple and free financial health check.
CUA Managing Director Mr Graham Olrich said the 2007 'Take a Shot' competition had been a wonderful success and the credit union would run the competition again over the 2008 NRL season.
"This year's 'Take a Shot' competition will kick off this Saturday 22 March at the Panthers' first home game," he said.
Mr Olrich said that CUA was committed to their involvement in the Penrith community.
"It is great to get behind our local sports team, of which our community is so supportive and loyal.
"The competition adds to the hype and atmosphere of the crowd and really enhances their enthusiasm at the home games.
"The free financial health check also provides a wonderful opportunity for people to assess their financial situation to ensure that they have the best arrangement to suit their needs."
Mr Olrich said approximately 2,000 people entered the competition in 2007 and he expected that number to increase this time around.
Last year's grand prize winner, 23 year old Rebecca Klynhout, said she was ecstatic when she found out about her win.
"I have been a true Penrith Panthers fan for as long as I can remember," she said.
"My parents are Penrith supporters and my whole immediate and extended family are also supporters of the club.
"I wasn't originally a CUA member but I did the CUA financial health check on the competition website to find out how well I was doing with my finances and the benefit of that was the chance to enter the competition.
"I entered quite a while ago so I’d even forgotten I’d entered! I was so excited when I was told I had won.
"I plan to use the $1,000 in my CUA savings account to pay for my tickets to Penrith home and away games for the entire season.
"My signed and framed Panthers jersey will go up in my living room next to my 2003 grand final jersey."
