Australia’s largest credit union, CUA, today announced the appointment of outgoing NRMA Chairman Kyle Loades as an independent Non-Executive Director on the CUA Board. Mr Loades’ appointment is effective 1 December 2017.

Mr Loades has extensive experience in strategy and governance across the business and community sectors and has held roles ranging from 15 years as a successful business owner, through to non-executive roles.

Mr Loades joined the NRMA Board as a Director in 2005. In 2014, he became Chairman of the NRMA Group which encompasses Thrifty Car Rentals and Travelodge Australia. He is retiring from his role as NRMA Chairman in December, after overseeing a period of significant transformation and growth.

Mr Loades is also active in the community, with current roles as Chairman of the Hunter Medical Research Institute, an Ambassador for TAFE NSW and a Director of the Australian Automobile Association.

CUA Chairman Nigel Ampherlaw said Mr Loades would bring valuable mutual-sector experience to the Board.

“The experience that Kyle has in leading one of the nation’s most recognised mutual organisations through a period of transformation and growth will be incredibly valuable, as CUA focuses on achieving our own digital transformation and growth objectives,” Mr Ampherlaw said.

“His strong community ties and interest in community-focused organisations will bring a valuable perspective to the Board, as CUA steps up our investment in community and our focus on strengthening community connections.

“On behalf of all the directors, we’d like to welcome Kyle to the CUA Board and we look forward to working with him.”

Mr Loades’ appointment fills the Board vacancy created by the retirement of CUA Director and Chairman Alan Beanland in November.
